Ministry of Shipping has declared the DGLL as designated authority on behalf of Govt. of India to deal with all matters relating to Training on Aids to Marine Navigation (AtoN) and Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) including Certification, Auditing and Accreditation of Training Institutes on AtoN and VTS in the country. Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships has established a Marine Navigation Training Institute (MNTI) to impart training to cater to the training needs and professionalism of Aids to Marine Navigation and VTS personnel by organizing various courses designed in accordance with Module courses for VTS personnel, level-I AtoN manager of the IALA worldwide Academy, etc.
