VTS Simulator Lab

Purpose of VTS Simulator - The purpose of VTS Simulator is to provide the training to the VTS operator/ supervisor with clear and concise real time portrayal of vessel movement and interaction in the vessel traffic service area. The information provided by the simulator must allow the trainees on the following aspect:

  1. Provided required level of Service, Information, Navigational Assistance or Traffic Organisation service.
  2. Enhance safety of life and property
  3. Protect Environment
  4. Reduce risk associated with marine operations
  5. Enhance efficiency of vessel movement and Port marine rescues
  6. Distribute VTS related information
  7. Search and Rescue assistance
  8. Record VTS data for administrative purpose, analysis of incidence and planning.

VTS Simulator at MNTI: -A modern state of the Art VTS Simulator from M/s Applied Research International Private Ltd has installed at MNTI, Kolkata to provide VTS operation familiarization training of the VTS personnel as per IALA recommendation R0103(V-103). Under the recommendation the model course for VTS operator V-103/1 is given in details. IALA Guideline 1027 on Simulation in VTS Training explain various requirements of training like:
